There is usually only a limited amount of damage that can be done by dull or stupid people.

Mer- I am told the 'ladies" version of the Young Para 15 is an early model (uncatalogued) and is a stretched version of the Martha Marie. In general,
there is no implication that the Para 15 is a ladies rod. It would be great if someone could contribute a nice Para 15 taper and their impressions of casting
and fishing one of Young's early rods.

I was just teasing about the Para15 being a ladies rod.
I was mostly just curious about the naming of it, since "common knowledge" indicates the no two Para 15's are the same.
There is usually only a limited amount of damage that can be done by dull or stupid people.

Would that be along the lines of the Perfectionist built for Martha Marie being a different taper than most the others. In others words a totally custom
version for her. Its the one Banjo owns, I guess that would be a lady's version as well ! But like mer said they all seem to be a bit different some just
more so than others.

Scott, wasn't there an article in The Planing Form that listed some of Youngs tapers? Maybe the Para 15 was included, I can check my copy when I get home
tonight. I would contact Ron Barch if you haven't already done so.

Actually I think I led Scott astray here. I told him about my experience casting a Para 15 weighing 3.82 oz. that Paul Young built in 1949 for a woman, Grace
O. Beach. I enjoyed it a lot as its casting characteristics reminded me of my own PHY Martha Marie rod. Some photos of the Grace O. Beach Para 15 are in the
NNN section of the PHY Database. I do not have a taper for this particular Para 15.
Quashnet's Paul H. Young Rod Database has photos and descriptions of over 495 PHY Co. rods, plus catalogs, accessories,
etc. Thank you to all who continue to send me PHY rod photos and info.

I've never handled a Para-16 but here's the -16 numbers posted to the rodmakers listserve in 2001 "Follows is the Para-16 taper as provided by our friend Ron Barch..... Here are the numbers for the Para-16 0 = .80 5 = .90 10 = .116 15 = .147 20 = .181 25 = .190 30 = .206 35 = .212 40 = .233 45 = .250 50 = .262 55 = .265 60 = .280 65 = .295 70 = .305 75 = .305 80 = .305 85 = .305 90 = .305 95 = .305 100 = .305 these are the averages measured over varnish. I don't think they are very accurate as the rod was refinished and I think brush varnished. But its a place to start. Ron" Also over on David Ray's taper database.... PHY Para 16 8.3 Ft 5 Wt
over on Rod DNA the Para-16 #'s are from the Listserve post with 5 thou deducted for varnish...so ..it looks like there is only one set of numbers out there with different guesses as to varnish. over on Quashnet's PHY database ... MJK (Marty Keane) stated there were less than twenty Para 16's listed in the original PHY records. Hope this helps Dennis

Get the K.T. Keller taper with the wet/dry tips and forget about all of the rest of the Para 15 tapers. Its the best and most versatile taper possibly ever
made. I have the taper in my shop but not on hand right now. I can get it for you in a couple of days.
