Does any one know what year Bogden reels first appeared in an Orvis catalogue and what was the price.

I bought a Salmon No. 2 at the Manchester store for $115 about 1963. Not even a pouch. Took it away in a paper bag.
Someone will certainly have the catalogue info you seek. |

My short answer is no.
But they were in the 1960 catalog that is not in front of me (or near me) at the moment so I cannot tell you the price. Charlie |

The Bogdan 3 1/4 dia. goes for $105.00 in the 1960 Orvis catalog.

I had thought it was 1957 but based on my catalogs it was 1958....
In 1958 the Model 1 was the only one size offered by Orvis and it was $110

Depending on what reference you go by, it was between 1975 & 1977.
I haven't started buying the mid 1970s catalog years yet to see which is the last year they were advertised but maybe someone else can chime in that owns those years. What I have found with other Orvis catalogs from the late 60s forward when they started going from just one annual catalog to multiple catalogs within a year....such as a Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter etc, is that the Bogdan reels were not advertised in all issues within a given year so you just about have to look at copies of all the various issues for a year to determine if they were included or not for that year.
