Check out the Casio line. They have watches that are waterproof, solar powered, set automatically by the atomic clock, and many of the features you had on the
ads you posted, all in one watch.

Wear a watch??? On a trout stream while fishing?? Sacrilege I say! If I have to know what time it is, I'll set a stick in the ground, find north and get
an approximate.
I do wear one when fishing with my son though...a Timex Ironman...nothing fancy. |

Back a couple centuries ago, when I was in Vietnam, I bought two Seiko "Bellmatic" watches for my Dad and myself. After my Dad died, I gave my
Seiko to my son and kept my Dad's watch for myself, using it for many years before it stopped working (and I've yet to get it repaired). Probably 25 -
30 years ago, well before I took up fly fishing / tying, my Mom and Dad (both now gone), gave me the enclosed pocketwatch which I have used for several years
as my "daily timepiece". Guess they knew more about what I was going to do in the future than I did !

Rolex automatic Oyster Perpetual Sport- takes a licking and keeps on ticking - small and not flashy at all.

Rolex Submariner. Indisputably big and arguably flashy, but I really loved mine. One son got this carrot off the stick by graduating from college.
More to Karl's point: For fishing, I use a watch and compass built into a carabiner which hangs off my fishing jacket. I use the compass feature more than I thought I would, and find the watch a lot more convenient to use (i.e., merely look down at) than the $9.95 junker on my wrist (under elastic cuffs, velcro straps, sweatshirt ribbing, etc.). |

Rolex Explorer II. It goes everywhere with me, and has seen a lot of casting as well as more than a few boxes of shotgun shells.
My wife gave me the watch as a 25th anniversary gift, and we just celebrated our 46th. No problems yet either with the watch or the marriage. EP |

At about 6:30 PM every Friday, I shed my ultra-thin Concord with the lizard band in favor of a Swiss Army Renegade which shows me the time and date, something
I've come to forget more frequently lately. It's also a great skiing, gardening, hiking, sitting on the beach and reading, wandering around the
hardware store, and going to the movies with my wife watch. The one beef that I have with it is that it doesn't automatically sound an alarm when the
hatch starts.

The trouble with wearing a watch is that every time you look at the watch it tells you what time it is.

Last Christmas or the one before that, my wife gave a Casio Pathfinder Multiband 5 watch to me.
This device is water resistant to 100 meters, solar powered, automatically sets itself to the Atomic Clock, it has a barometer, an altimeter, a compass, a thermometer, a stopwatch, every type of alarm option(s) one could think of, and it does a few other things that I haven't bothered to read the manual to figure out. When the bite is on, and especially when it suddenly stops, I check the barometer function and sure enough the watch confirms what I've just witnessed. I bet you will derive a lot of pleasure from a similar watch. I would never in a millions years have considered purchasing this multi-tasking / high-tech time keeping device for myself; but the thought behind this gift is priceless to me, so I wear the watch with much pride.

Seiko makes some reasonable divers watches that are mechanical and keep very good time. I would think anyone fishing archaic bamboo rods wouldn't want an
electronic watch. Check out the classifieds on:

There is only one clock on a trout stream, smallie river or bucketmouth pond and it hangs directly overhead. it only has two positions, fishing time and
drinking time, but very conveniently it also has a built in alarm function, when the lights are on, you should be fishing, when the light goes out, you should
be drinking.
Best part is no moving parts, no batteries and it is absolutely infallable, with a lifetime warranty on accuracy. Even Rolex cannot compare. |

I have been wearing a Submariner for 15 years. It just came back from its first overhaul and looks like new. This has been a great watch.

My new fishing watch is a Abercrombie & Fitch Shipmate Wrist Watch. It's waterproof, self winding, and has a great nylon band. |

Watch who needs a stinking watch. I haven't got one. . .
I have had 2 both were Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watches. One I got after my Great Uncle passed. I gave it to my oldest son on his wedding day. The second one my first wife gave me. She may have been tired of me coming home late, who knows too late to ask. That watch I gave to my youngest son when we got together to go floating rivers for a few weeks. They make nice gifts. |
