I've never heard of this one.
Very modernistic and unique design.
Thought some might enjoy seeing a couple of pics. I understand they are no longer made.

Very nice, reminds me of Backwinder reels from Norway with a hint of ATH.

...LOOP crossed with ATH since Backwinder is relatively new. The first time I can recall seeing this reel was on a Japanese bamboo rodmaker's site,
attached to a modified FIBH cane rod (almost no swell, more like a spigot rather than sleeve over). Unfortunately, the picture is no longer on his site.
Probably wouldn't look good on your average Payne, but sure looked good on a rod with a more "modern" appearance. C

nice-looking reel, and I think the looks are set off by the line guard.
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

Thanks Brian, its about time I popped by! I was a dealer for the Dormisch-Absi reels & still have one of my own. They aren't being made at the moment
& haven't been for about a year or so now. Martin Absi, who with Pablo Dormisch (both from Patagonian Argentina) originally designed this reel, has
designed an updated version that addresses a problem with the original design. He has been trying for over a year now to find a manufacturing facility that
could make the reels at a realistic cost but without any luck. Its a shame, because its a really elegantly designed and functional lightweight reel & I
would really like to see Martin making more. The reel came with 9 (I think) spool colour options & was clicker only, this was adjusted with the outer ring
on the back of the frame. There was only a minimal range of adjustment on the clicker resistance, but it was nicely set up and I've never felt the need for
any more. It could also be pivoted at the reel foot to adjust for balance. It was machined to a high standard of high grade aluminium & was very
lightweight. Anodising was generally to a high standard, but with some slight inconsistency with the spools depending on colour. The spool was held in place by
a couple of O rings & tolerances were very tight, so that if the spool had been in place for a while it was tricky to remove. That's where the problem
lay: If you applied too much force in removing the spool the lightweight frame could distort and the clicker mechanism would become unseated and ultimately
break. Removing the spool when you finished fishing or not changing spools at all, would normally get around this. Martin has told me that his new design has
fixed the problem. I sold 12 of these reels in all; some had to be sent back to be fixed & Martin always honoured his warranty. I continued to sell the
reels, making sure that customers were aware of the issues and offering a full money back guarantee (as with everything I sell) & also in the knowledge
that Martin always stood by his warranty. People still wanted to buy them & were happy with the reels and the service. I think only one customer opted for
his money back instead of the repair option. So my experience was somewhat mixed, but I don't regret any of it. I love my own Dormisch & wouldn't
part with it for the world. I do seem to have talked a lot; I hope I haven't been boring you all too much (too much beer!). Mark.

It's not completely clear in the photo, looks like the lineguard is a potential catch point for stray loops of line? Just curious.
"When all the rods and a lot of reels, lines, leader boxes, et cetera, had been sold, the gang paid at the cashier's
window for what they'd bought and then made a bee line for the rug room to test their rods. I put mine together, tested it for a moment or so, and then
started to show it to men I knew. Not a man was interested in my rod. They all, without a single exception, tried to get me to look at theirs. Extraordinary,
how self centered most men are. Have you noticed it? "
