New 2.75" (3/4 wgt.) |
Lead | ||
|
Made a new 2.75" Vom Hofe inspired reel. Reel is similar to my 2.5", but incorporates nickel silver pillars, a radius on the pinned rings, Vom Hofe
style handle, and two stainless steel ball bearings. Runs very smooth with a newly designed check. Additionally, I got in one of those, "how hard can it
be", moods and decided to make a custom fitted and hand sewn Vom Hofe style reel case for it. After three tries, ten hours of labor, one quart of blood
loss from many punchor wounds and cuts, and several blisters, I ended up with the results shown. While I'm no leather expert from my ten hours of
spiritual awareness, If anyone is interested in making their own leather reel case and realizing that they are truly alive, I could post the process steps
here.......let me know..................Holireels

You do outstanding work--nicely understated but
with close attention to detail and such beautiful results. Your raised-pillars already proved that--and now this. I'd enjoy very much seeing the steps in your making the reel case. |

I can't wait to see the how to on the case. I did a little leather working a few years ago and may have to get my old stuff back out. Mark |
