I appreciate the friendly and helpful atmosphere of the board and have learned much from it. Thank you all. I am 48 and have fly fished since my teenage years. In last last year I have become interested in improving my casting and in bamboo. I suppose John Gierach has had a hand in that. It's funny that I started by wanting to get a new modern rod so I could cast farther and ended up getting sucked into bamboo. I now have two bamboo rods and am casting farther anyways ... its amazing what practice can do. Books by Gierach, Chatham, and Duncan have been great reads for me and am open to other's suggestions. "A River Runs Through It" is a favorite. It's about a lot more than fishing. Posts: 3 11/30/2009 23:42	Thank you Bob and Monty for the welcome. Bob, I must say that browsing the forum does make me thankful to live in Montana. Lots of people mention special times that they have had here. I've probably not taken advantage of it as much as I should have, but am trying to change that. My home water would be the Flathead River. Not an incredibly fertile river, but there are some nice cutthroats. Actually, I like to think of the Big Blackfoot as my home water even though its a couple of hours away. Just a special place in the fall when everyone else is hunting. Big on the list of places to visit is the South Fork of the Flathead in the Bob Marshall. Several on the forum rate this remote river very highly. Thanks, Greg
