I've been wondering about this and interested to hear people's opinions..
when fitting a grip to a rod, do you have the rings installed so tightly that you need to force them into position or do you want a looser fit?
i guess i can see advantages and disadvantages to both... on one hand the tighter fit has less chance of ever loosening but there's more of a squeegee effect in the cork wiping away glue when being installed... having a looser fit ensures glue but then you're relying on glue to act as a space filler which i don't like to do either...
i guess i try to shoot for the middle... snug but not so much that i'm killing myself to dry fit it...
i should say, i build alot of glass rods where there's no space between flat and cork like a bamboo for glue to sit... the squeegee problem is more an issue w/ round rods..
anyway, just something i was thinking about.. and knowing rodmakers have opinions about everything i'm interested to hear if there's some logic behind your individual practices...
