I just found this forum and since I'm lurking, I may as well participate. I just graduated from college with a BS in electrical engineering. I am currently
in Greenville, SC, so I consider the Chattooga River to be my home water (even if it takes 90 minutes to get there). I will be moving to Virginia Beach in
about a month for a job with Uncle Sam so that I can take advantage of my active duty time with the USMC and retire earlier. My wife is a high school math
teacher. I've been fishing about two years after taking a 15 year break. Fly fishing comprises most of that, and I'll be building a bamboo rod before I
move to VA if all goes right. I can already tell that I'll be spending a lt of time here.

59, semi retired Realtor, just getting back into fly fishing after many years of a serious golf addiction. fishing mostly lakes right now for kokanee,
rainbows, and brookies, but hope to hit the rivers for some salmon and steelies this fall. Still using my 70's vintage fenwicks, and medalists reels.

I live in Napa Valley, California. I work at Patz & Hall Winery as a "Wine Educator". Basically I get to hang out with people on vacation, drink
great Pinot Noir, and help folks have a great time in Wine Country. Stop in if you are in the area, I comp ALL fly fishermen. We have a sweet little tailwater
(Putah Creek) about 40 minutes out of town. Tight lines and gentle releases, men. Cheers, Toby

Hi Brian, I live very close to the River Blyth in Bedlington, Northumberland. I fish it with a 6' sage which is great fun. Also a 1 mile stretch of the
coquet which was just starting to get some sea trout coming through just before I hurt my back I caught a lovely 1 lb 12 oz Brownie a couple of weeks back,
which is decent for the coquet.. I can't see me being fit for Ladykirk next week.It is near Norham and usually a good low water beat, although the Tweed
has been very poor so far . It is my 50th birthday next year so am having a good look at where I fancy going. Norway looks a bit hit or miss, a lot of money to
have a possible blank week! Iceland is top of the list at the moment. Time for back excercises. steve

Hi,
I'm an aging hippy folk singer from Bainbridge Island, WA I found this site when trying to find out more information on a rod I acquired. The rod is a beauty; 7-1/2' in just lovely condition. Two unbent tips, and a scruffy sock and aluminum tube. The only identifying marks on it are Vom Hofe and on the other side, "Universal" I have fished the rod with an old Orvis Battenkill with a double taper 5 weight, which doesn't seem to over load the rod. (it casts just great!) Any info or opinions would be most appreciated. Larry |

Hi floks,
Worked in the grocery business since 69 and have fly fished since 63. Born and raised in Illinois on the Hennipin canal ctting my teeth on small mouthed bass, bluegills and sunnies. Moved into the drifless area of Minnesota in 96 and have fallen in love with Root River tributaries! Lots of aggressive browns and beautiful browns. I make trips out to the north cascades two to three times a year to fish the Metow river. Enjoyed fishing the Cascade River near Newhalem WA in 2005 when the pinks and steelhead were running, only hooked into one steelhead but still remember it well! I drive my wife nuts refinishing and restoring great old bamboos when the yard work is done. I'm into old South Bends made by Winchester in the twenties.
Nothing like a small trout stream running clear and cold when I'm the only one around for miles! Jack |

Hi!
Found this board yesterday & my iPhone running on fumes... Recently (very) started fishing some bamboo. Live on a lake (mainly plants - but an occasional brownie). Love fishing the Yakima & the methow and can't resist the Snoqualmie since it's so close. Recently picked up a Wagner patriot 4wt which I love so far. I'd like to pick up a 5wt 8+' next- any opinions or suggestions welcome. I work in HR for a biotech co that develops cancer therapies. |

I've been enjoying the posts on this forum for quite some time but have never got around to posting under this section.
I'm a civil engineer and live in the central Kentucky area. I just got the bamboo bug within the last couple of years -- wish it had been sooner as I own just one cane rod but I have two others on order. I foresee that more of my plastic rods may get sold.
I have participated in some other forums but this one is the most interesting and informative. I love learning more about bamboo and classic reels. I recently bought and have been reading through the Carmichael / Garrison book and find it quite fascinating. I really have an appreciation for the makers of bamboo rods. |
