Paul, You are obviously a man of good taste. My all time favorite is a tie for #1 between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I had the good fortune to see Zepp in 1976 and the even better fortune to see Pink Floyd on both of their last 2 U.S. tours in 1988 &1994 @RFK stadium in Washington, D.C.They have the best laser show in the world. There was talk a couple of months ago of a possible world tour with Roger Waters rejoining them but I don't think it'll ever happen. If it does I'll be 1st in line, until then I'll just remainComfortably Numb...gd

Dale,
I'm glad to see you mention "No Doubt" in your list. I consider myself to have somewhat eclectic tastes especially a fan of Bob Marley, Duane Allman , Little Feat ( the llowel george years), Ry Cooder, Bruce Springsteen ( my grandmother lived in Asbury Park N.J. ) and frequently pop in a dead CD that old hippy mnash gave me I took my daughter ( now 21) to a No Doubt concert when they just started to get noticed and the musicianship of that band was astounding. It was an incredible show and I carry a couple of their early Cd's in a plain brown paper bag so as to not get grief from friends. I'm not sure what happened to Gwen Stefani but they were once an excellent band btw check out "Welcome to Jamrock" by Damian Marley .......excellent album showing him to likely be the most talented of Bob's sons bill |

Bill (nohackle),
My daughters are 8 and 11, so it wouldn't have been appropriate to bring them to a nodoubt concert (I have this 6 cd/dvd set with live videos, and there is a bunch of adult language). They like the "NEW" Gwen Stefani and Aly/AJ, etc kind of stuff... My tastes are eclectic too. And they change from decade to decade! Dale |

Very enjoyable thread! Stop and think about it,there is nothing like music that will make you associate an artist or song to a particular point in your life.Who you were dating at the time, the way you dressed, the length of your hair, whether you were mellow or were rebelling against the "establishment".Some of the artists mentioned here I hadn't given much thought to lately, but as soon as nohackle mentioned Ry Cooder, the first thought that sprang to mind was"hey buddy can you lend me a dime".And has there ever been a guitar solo(duo) as good as the one by Eric Clapton and Duane Allman on Layla?I used to tell my oldest daughter that the music she listened to would be nowhere to be found in 5 short years. That the music I listened to had been around for 30-40 years and 30-40 years from now I'll bet the ranch that you will still be able to turn on any FM rock station and they'll still be playing The Stones ,Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd as well as most of the other artists mentioned here.

Bob-
Funny you mentionned Cash- Just this afternoon we were in the car and I almost put some on, but put on some Roy Orbison instead. Sometimes I'm asked for favorites lists by friends or clients - end up talking jazz or Springsteen or Van, or books like Middleton or H. James. I spend time listening and speaking all day with people about what's most important to them. Kind of like we do here with these beautiful handmade tools and fishing and rivers and.... -Steve |

SAltsh,
My man Roy! I hope I didn't miss his performance on PBS! I think it's called"A Black and White Night", not sure. I have a VHS tape of it somewhere!? Great club performance with Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, K.D. Lang, and many others accompanying. I spend time with a lot of different personalities every day. My occupation is salesman........Yikes!! Sounds as if you may be more of a therapist or....? Bob |

XM Radio... The Boneyard, Watercolors, Top Tracks, Frank's Place, or MLB (Major League Baseball).
Nothing beats satellite radio. I was a skeptic until I signed up. You never lose a station. You can be in the middle of nowwhere and not have a radio signal, but by golly XM comes in crystal clear. |
