Last Tuesday, I took delivery of my brand new Homer Jennings 7' 3" , 3wt.. Its a 2/2 configuation with his standard honey lemon wraps, tipped brown
and bright hardware. Reel seat is olive with a down slide band. Was able to get out for a bit of lawn casting Friday and it is just as I had hoped. Smooth
with a DT3.

Are there instructions out there on how to do that? I clicked on the insert image button, but I'm not figuring it out.

Hardy CC de France | #1187
|
A few months ago (back in October) I posted a question to the Appraisal section here to see if anyone knew the value of a Hardy CC de France I found at an
antique store (Hardy
Link). The rod is marked: The "C.C. de France" (Special)... According to the serial number it dates to 1959. It's 7'6" (230cm)...
at the time, though it seemed like a very fair price, I passed and sent a friend over to check it out... he too passed on the rod.
Spurred by a recent viewing of "The Lost World of Mr. Hardy" I was back in the area of the antique shop today and checked to see if the rod was still there. It was along with the seller who I managed to talk down about 30% from the tag with a cash deal (shhh.. no tax). hard to resist a stack of $20s when its there in front of you i guess. anyway, i'm very pleased w/ the rod and it casts a fine 5wt. My early 50's 3 1/8" perfect makes it a great combo. It needs alittle work but nothing major except 2 new snake guides. The ferrules weren't going together all the way in the store and I found the female was packed full with about a 1/2" of dirt inside. I dug it out w/ a toothpick, cleaned w/ alcohol and the ferrules both fit perfectly w/ no modification. Now i just need to find a pair of bronze english twist guides to replace the missing so if you have a few that may work please let me know. Still unsure of what "Special" means but the newer commemorative CC de France rods out there match this original very closely. Would love to find even more history on this rod if anyone knows... Here's a pic Miss CC matched up w/ her new friend Mr. Perfect.
Newer Hardy Commemorative set:
This was my first decent find "in the field" and was glad it was sitting there still almost 5 months after I first saw it.... now I just cant wait to get it fixed up and hit the water... -matt

Hi,
I'm very fortunate to receive my fibreglass ferruled 225FF4 from Mario. He is the only rodmaker who has ever telephoned me halfway across the world to say that he is ready to make my rod and Viola! It's done in 4 weeks! Perfect finish and all... Thank you Mario. It is the lightest 7.5' 4wt in my collection and its action is fast and smooth. Couldn't help tearing off the tissue wraps to take it fishing
This rod completes my modest 'modern masters' collection. I'm a lucky guy.. Arthur |

I've just received and had the first casting session with my new Sweetgrass 7,6' 4 weight, and it is a great rod! I can't wait taking it for some
Baetis action this spring. I do not think this will be my last Sweetgrass.
Thanks for the trade Daniel! |

Hi Marouff,
Here are the fibreglass ferrule pics... sorry, it was dark when I snapped these shots.. the actual finish is not as glossy and his eye for detail is very similar to Kagerow rods Fibreglass ferrule plug.

I just recieved a Tand T 8.0' 35/8 oz limestoner nm 4 wt with red wraps w/ 3 tags. sn # 4488. This is a beautiful rod that feels very nice in the hand. I
only had a 4 wt courtland silk on hand to lawncast it with, seemed a little light but not bad . I have ordered two more lines to try it with. I was wondering
if any members had tried a silk line on this model?

Super Mario's Satin finish | #1197
|
Way to go ARTHURK very nice rod! The finish on your new rod is Mario's Satin finish! It's his best and most labor intensive finish! ibookje, these rods
can take up to a 5 year wait but well worth it! Grip length can very as to a rods weight but I would say standard is 5-1/2".
Mario has always been Super in my book!!!

Arthur's rod seems to have a long grip for a 7.5 ft rod. Or is it the angle of the picture?

Thanks Rick! Mario's finish is indeed like fine satin. I fished the rod this morning and it felt uncannily like my Kagerow Kei... not tippy at all but
smooth loading all the way with some power in the butt. Really nice.
Jay, apologies for taking so long to reply... the cork grip is 6 1/4' ( 5 1/2' to the top 'ridge' of the depression before it slopes down to the cane.. making it effectively a 5 1/2' grip as rightly mentioned by Rick). The entire grip plus koa insert reel seat etc. is 9 3/4'. Very nice for accurate casting but some deem this 'peckerhead' design ugly. I personally like it. The grip looks long as it is quite slender... much like my Perfectionist grip. Arthur |

The "peckerhead" may or may not be the prettiest grip, but I feel it is one of the most comfortable and for me, effective, grip designs.
