I feel like I should give some back story to this, so, crazy as it may sound my retired neighbor and I were talking about the beautiful wonders of fly fishing
and he mentioned he had some old rods that were given to him by the owner of this "Winston" company. After looking at the half-dozen rods and
realizing they were beautiful 1960's era R.L. Winstons, I told him that they were very valuable and that I just wouldn't use some of them as I already
have rods at those sizes that were purchased or given to me by my family. "Sell them off, I don't care!" was his quick reply with a wink and a
smile.
The first of these rods is a beautiful R.L. Winston Hex Bamboo Rod. It is 2/1, 6' 3", 2 oz. with the serial #9646. This rod is in excellent condition and comes with both the original bag and tube. The bag is in excellent condition while the tube (while doing it's job to protect it's precious contents) has some scuffs and scratches.
I have seen quotes for this type of rod anywhere from $1500 to $3500 and as I am looking to most likely sell it (as I already have a R.L. Winston Ultralight from the same era from a family member) was wondering what would be a fair asking price. Thanks and sorry for the lengthy tale.
Oh, and by the way, if you are interested at all in this rod, feel free to let me know, ask for pics, etc.! jswolpdx@comcast.net
