So you're the one who outbid me on that reel.So, you're the one who cost me $50 more than I expected to pay. 
I think I know where you might find an identical or similar reel if you are still interested. I didn't find out about it until after the auction ended.

I had conferred with Eilean Burgess about it and went to work this Sat AM and upon returning home this PM found the auction had closed, thus saving me money I
didn't have to begin with...but, Jesus! I love a handsome reel with a red agate guard and a sophisticated porting design... and with the equivalent of a
short novel engraved on its back plate. That, to me, is Heaven. Congratulations, you lucky bastard!

The pattern 15a reels in 3-1/8" and 3-3/8" are the ultimate, IMO. 
somewhere out there are Young pattern 15a reels marked for FE Thomas - would love to find one

the seller at the time was unloading his Milward collection and had many fine postwar Flycrafts. Mine was the only prewar (the name was coined in 1937). He was
selling so much, mine made it under the radar.

A fairly battered 3in Reuben Heaton reel, unmarked (apart from the tell-tale Roman numerals) but retaining quite a lot of the original paintwork.
Probably late 1930s?
