I guess everybody knows what these look like so here's a slightly more creative picture (on a JC cape).
I think this calls for a nice little cane rod don't you agree?

Bougle MK IV 3" | #241 | ||

After a long search I finally got the opportunity to buy this little 3" gem locally, in new state for a very friendly price. Couldn't be
happier right now and am looking forward to try it

You're gonna love that Bouglé. I've got one myself, with three spare spools, and I use it with lines #2 to #4 on graphite and bamboo rods. Just a
wonderful, beautiful, and versatile reel, enjoy!

Thank you Wilfred, I'm sure I will, right now this is the favourite of the one's I have also because it's so small, it felt was great when I found
it and finally could see it and pick it up yesterday!
I put backing and line (DT4) on it last night and also tampered with the springs a little to make the drag a bit smoother. Although it's not really the time of year for it I'll give it a try this weekend to see how it casts and fishes with the rod I have for it. Chances are slim right now but I'm looking forward to a fish really pulling line of this little thing as it sounds great.
Could anybody tell me what year the MK IV was first introduced and when it was replaced by the MK V? I'd like to find the catalogues for these years to go with the reels. BTW: the serial number starts with a J so it must be an Asian reel

I'm not completely sure, so anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Mk IV was introduced in 1998 and was replaced by the Mk V in 2002.

Wow! Beautiful reel. I know of a few all brass Perfects being offered for sale online.
The prices are way out of my league, but I still keep looking at those pics. Mesmerising... Field find? Want to share some details without giving things away? Wilfred de Bruijn

My latest purchase was not vintage but in my opinion indeed a classic - a Billy Pate Trout, LHW, direct drive. Picked it up on that auction site I guess you
have heard about, for BIN-price of $ 210.00, so I did not hesitate long before pulling the trigger.
Also got myself a CFO V Saltwater disc from fellow forum member Mats here in Sweden, very nice. Regards, Martin in Sweden
Like the hunter, the hawker and the fowler, the fisherman takes life in finding his pleasure. It is reasonable to ask
of him that he make it as keen and thorough and satisfying, as productive of growth in himself as he reasonably can. For only then can it be the strong and
sensitive pleasure of a civilised man.

I'm told it's not in the 97 catalogue so it should be close, I was thinking either '98 or '99 myself as well but couldn't find anything about it on the forum. Randy, that's a fantastic looking reel you found! Must have been quite the 'field trip'

Randy, that reel is a beauty as one could ever own, I watched two go in the UK last year along with an original narrow drum perfect. This has to be the
pinnacle of Hardy for you!

Randy,
Are you kidding me!!!! How do you find this stuff. This is one AWESOME reel. An early brass perfect would knock my socks off, but finding one of the rarest, the 2-5/8", is unbelievable. I could give up my entire collection just for that one reel. Congrats!!!! Paul |

Wow Flyman Dan you had quite a good year for sure. Love them all but got to ask about the polished young with the agate,if larger reel in pic is 3 1/8,How
small is the little one? That Caged spool agate Dingley is a find too, although they all are. Daryl

Thanks fellas,
The polished Young in the photo is one that I had purchased for a friend and is also 3 1/8'' (bad photography). I winced in agony when I saw a picture of the polish job, but it matches his rod's nickel silver hardware and in hand a very nice looking reel. The person did not cut any corners and did it right if you can acknowledge someone wrecking a nice finish on a reel a good job. The Lefty was really my find of the year in a historical sense...gotta love the Dingley Christmas shopping must have been easy for my family... Lets just say that Fishpond sold a lot of their Stowaway reel cases. |

Sporting Spirit is owned by the Liu brothers. In my experience, they do eventually respond to inquiries. When I asked about the collection of 13 rods listed on
the home page, I was--as I have mentioned in various other threads on this forum--told, among other things, that the cost was $175,000. This may give you an
indication of the Price On Request of these other items. Or it might not. C
