that Monty is an interesting reel. eyecatching. do you by chance have more info on the maker you can pass along?
I picked up a Ross Gunnison today. I dunno why, I just bought on recently. this one is unfished in box with original paperwork and extra spool. eh, itll look nice on a shelf. |

Mr. Shamburg, I've got the Nilsson raised pillar reel (black and titanium...I think) and absolutely love its lines. In fact, If you have access to Art of
Angling Journal (vol 1 issue 3) I painted a still life of a Nillson reel with a Russ Gooding rod in my article on Golden Witch. I'd like to find out more
about Invar Nilsson...

a-brane. The "Monty" is a 40 yrd reel made in the 20's-30's by Montague City Reel Co.

I have made a few reels of my own, but not from wood. I've got a raised pillar reel that I started work on about two years ago that I need to pick back up again. This Bougle didn't make reserve on ebay so I contacted the seller and she made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Don't know for sure if I'll keep
it or not, but I think It's one of the nicer looking reels that Hardy is currently producing.

What vintage is that Medalist? The versions with the square guide have really been growing on me, and your example is outstanding ! Richard - You did well, that's a beauty and I think soon enough the Mark VI will have a similar craze like what's going on with the Mark IVs Mark B

Here's a J.J.S. Walker Makers Alnwick Dingley circa 1912-17 or so that I picked up a couple weeks ago, and my newest Bogdan.......I seriously need therapy
to get over the calling for more of these......
 The Bogdan is an
unusual 1970's Orvis era Model 00 that is Single Action. With the perforated winding plate and no multiplier gears, it is amazingly light weight (for a
Bogdan) and I think it would balance anywhere from an 8 1/2 ft 5 wt up to a 9 ft 7wt rod. Yes, a Bogdan double brake shoe is probably over kill for anything
that would normally be fished for with a 5 wt rod, but heck, Maurice Noel puts a similar drag in his trout models....
This last Bogdan put in question my being able to keep to my the 2007 reels budget.......so keep an eye out for Crazy Mark's Bogdan financing sale of other reels coming up
