Doc, I got you on ORCA - your Gyrex is definitely a prewar reel - you should show it here.
I fish a 3" Flymaster and love it.

Blue Collar shout out!
I can't afford the typical classics, but I love these nice click and pawls. I just picked these up. I love both designs. I grew up fishing a martin 67ss-a and it took a little too much abuse so I found a 67ss to replace it. Also i got another Daiwa SF-706. I love these reels. Inexpensive with a great drag and takes tons of abuse. Strange the 67ss-a post is slimmer than the 67ss. At first i thought the only difference was that the 67ss-a didn't have the stripe detail. Sorry pics were put together a bit hastily. ![]() ![]()

Young Jubilee, 3-1/2" MW - perfect with a DT6. Been trying to get one of these for a long time, and with Ken's help, this was the best deal I have
yet seen on one.

My guess, this is a Redditch reel, early postwar

Banjo:
1. Re the 3rd-from-left block-leather case: Is that a Hardy case, with spring-loaded clasp? I have four very much like it, all unmarked except for the letters H.O.M.A., and have always wondered about their origin. There's a case much like it in the new Split & Glued, also. 2. Is that a Cascapedia in the red-lined case at the top, just right of center? Thanks, Bob |

Anyone notice the drag design in the Diawa reel? That's the Hardy made Orvis CFO drag design. It's also the old SA Mastery 1 456 reel in Diawa
clothing. Wonder how many different reels Hardy put this drag set up in? And I bet you didn't pay as much as a CFO goes for.

Hi BobS | #99 | ||

While Made in England is impressed in the leather I do not believe it is from Hardy but it fits the 3 1/2" Salmon Wide Uniqua to a tee, the reel in the
black block case is a Cascapedia 1/0 LHW

Thanks for the info, Banjo.
FWIW, my cases also have "MADE IN ENGLAND" stamped on them in gold, just under "REAL HIDE," also in gold. Both stampings appear just over the vertically-oriented oval plate holding the metal loop into which the spring-loaded clasp fits. It is on this oval plate that the "HOMA" is stamped, the letters arranged vertically. Once thought that the "H" might stand for "Hardy," and the "A" for "Alnwick," but have never seen anything to support this. Perhaps someone else out there will know. |
