First off I want to thank every one for all the great fish and reel pic,s. I may not comment much but I sure enjoy seeing them. I got out yesterday on local
stream ,water is still pretty high but going down. Heres best of day, nice wild cuttie caught on a 3 in Young Perfect and a Driggs taper , and a smaller cuttie
but better pic of reel. Driggs does well on small fastwater for me. hole

NICE setup, Lee, and nice fish, too.
You had that rod at the Traditional Anglers' gathering, right? I wanted to cast it but I ran out of time. Lon

Yes Lon, I did have it there. I really like it on the Raritan. For me, it's the ideal size for the small dries and nymphs we use there this time of year..

This past Friday, as we were stringing up our rods, my fishing buddy glanced over and with this pie-eating grin asked, Hey, where's the rest of your
reel? I chuckled and was reminded of former Chicago Blackhawk goalie, Darren Pang's very first NHL game ... during the pre-game warm-up, Pang, who
stood a mere 5'-5" tall was in net when Canadien's backliner Larry Robinson skates towards Chicago's Chris Chelios and asks, Hey Chelly,
where's the other half of your goalie?

Hey Joe,
I like the lacewood spacer on yor rod. Also like the simple design of the Sunbeam.

Thank you, Alex ... though that spacer certainly does appear to be lacewood, it's actually a New Zealand hardwood called rewarewa.
Yes, that reel is as "simple" as a crowbar ... and as is the case with people, I am drawn to uncomplicated and unpretentious reels like the Sunbeam. If you never flew why would you cut the wings off a butterfly? ~ 'Lying in the Hands of God', by Dave Matthews |

I usually forget to take my camera fishing, or maybe I just don't like to take it with me. Used my Veugelers 4wt and ATH AntiReverse today. Quite windy and difficult circumstances, but caught a few anyway. Rudd and perch are pictured. Tiny when compared to the big game fish that usually grace these pages, but it makes a nice change. Lovely little fish who love to take a fly off the surface. Wilfred de Bruijn

Its not a fly reel but it is a classic.1930's 4.5'' Hardy Longstone on a cane rod with a 23.5lb spring salmon last saturday.
And this is what the rod looked like when we were done!

Shoeless, That is a gorgeous photo essay! Would you have taken that fine outfit to the Rocky Mtn Nat Park area for greenbacks and brookies? Beautiful
tackle, fishes and environment, I must say!

Russ...Bubba, is that you?
That is a fine springer...my question is: the rod appears to be intact when the fish is on the deck...what happened? Also, how old is the rod? Walker-Bampton perhaps? Ferrule metal fatigue is my guess. That Longstone is beautiful!

No I'm taking the picture, the fellow playing the fish ( his first salmon , nice way to start eh) is a friend from Saskatchewan. The rod made it through
that fish and a bunch of pinks as well as some Cohoes . It broke when a fish hit and I yanked up on the rod to release the line from the downrigger clip. The
rod has a decal on it that looks like a lighthouse with trade mark written on it and a little below that another that says Sabina. Not really sure whom its
made by, any ideas? Russ
Just did a Google and found out the rod was made by Dawson of Bromley not sure of age though. here's a pic showing a 4.5'' The TWEED by Forrest and sons- Kelso on a 10' Arjon rod . This combo we were dragging a fly on but had to cheat by adding a bit of weight to get it down some as the sink line wasn't geting into the zone. I've got an 8lb Coho on in this pic, no pic of fish as it was a wild one and released it quick.
