Lon, Nice bunch of combo's you've been fishing this season! I'm liking the Granger's more myself lately although all I have are a couple of
"Victory" grades so far. Nice fishing rods, especially matched with the classic reels the likes of what you're fishing with!

3-1/2" Farlows B.W.P. matched to a Granger Victory 9050 on my last westslope cutt outing last week...
the cutt' came from these cool, green waters - the memory of which will help me through the winter months to come... Greg

Thanks, Searun, and that Farlows/Granger setup is very attractive, as of course is the cutthroat.

Just returned from a Northern Journey...to the Saguenay River in Quebec (my hero, Winslow Homer fished there a few years back), and to Grand Lake Stream , Down
East Maine. I fished two Hardys; a 3.25" MK IV Bougle' and my very new Cascapedia. I fished both reels in the Saguenay fjord (salt water, where seals
and Beluga whales can be seen) and also on the Riviere Ste. Margueritte; a salmon and sea trout stream.
In one picture you'll see my friend Mozart, a "golden-doodle" helping me land a sea-run brookie. Both reels performed admirably and showed absolutely no adverse affect from being in the salt. Oh yes...the rod shown is a Bob Hosack 7' 9" 6-wt....splendid rod! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Afghan... Looks like a wonderful trip to a very special place. Nice reels and rods, but I especially liked seeing the searun brookie! Would love to go there
and fish for them myself someday.
Thanks for sharing, Greg |

This afternoon, I took my Winston vintage (3/4) reel and Brackett-era rod (7-1/2' 3/2 #4) up the hill to harass some small-stream brownies ...

Michael,
Thank you. That's the first time I fished that rod and reel together, and they matched up nicely. Actually, the rod is a Bristol era Edwards De Luxe. It's a 9 footer, in very nice original condition and a pleasant surprise. Though I'm sure it was intended as a 5 wgt., it also fishes nicely with a 4 wgt. silk line. According to the tube it's a Model 72.

The travels of the Mystery reel continue. Here it has a close encounter with a small but colorful Bulkley River steelhead.
A handful of spey reels on the way back to camp after a very good evening on the Studebaker run, Bulkley river. Top reel is a 3 3/4" Perfect rigged with an amusing little waking dry fly, but on this night the Mystery reel did all the damage.
The Kispiox river is well known for monster steelhead, but it has monster mushrooms on its banks as well. It was too cold to fish, this 4 inch Salmon Bougle Mk IV was frozen solid, as were my wading boots.

Thanks you made my morning at work. I wanted to fish the Kispiox this year but too many family commitments. What makes are
your double handers.
Often I have been exhausted on trout streams, uncomfortable, wet, cold, briar scarred, sunburned,
mosquito bitten, but never, with a fly rod in my hand have I been in a place that was less than beautiful.
