Heddon Imperial 125R with Granger 8642. I'm in love with this reel but looking to cheat on her with an agate one. This fish fell for a Shroeders hopper, which is just about my favorite fly, because it's so fun to tie that knot in the pheasant tail legs....
Same reel peeking from behind a Beaver Creek bow that fell during the Virginia Japanese beetle hatch. This time a South Bend 290.

Mr greg connely
That brit sure looks at home. Wonderfull pictures and nice fish. Sorry we missed each other while in the same area . Let's plan on meeting up next fall for sure . I'd like to fish with ya for a day so you could teach this ol dog a few tricks I at last got my leaded 3. 1)2. Wide drum perfect with round line guide. From our old friend. He sniffed one out for me. I swear he's as good a finder as you greg I put some pictures up on my website of some of the steelhead I got. On the page trip reports It's my slow time now so I"m already searching for some new reels to add to my collection. Still looking for a 3 3)4. Wide drum. You ready to part with one of yours Rich

The Dog? Heavens......can't imagine a trip without one of mine. (he smells bear sooner than I can see them!) Greg "Eventually all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. Quashnet, Does this look somewhat familiar? It's my 'new' 20s Perfect on my Wm. Harms "Prima donna" - 7.5' 3/2 4 WT - and one of
several southern Appalachian leviathans I subdued with that outfit...

Nice pictures, guys.
Here's my trusty 2-screw LRH mounted on my 8-foot Glenn Brackett Winston 5-weight. This rainbow took a #24 cream midge on a 7x tippet last Wednesday while I was taking a furlough day from work. It was the only fly working and the next fish decided to keep it.

Classic Reels at Dry Run Creek | #570 | ||
Had my oldest grandson at Dry Run Creek this weekend......this is a 22" 'bow on a 3" Allcock's Marvel (Young's Beadeaux, and a 7' Orvis 99.
Here he is with a nice brown on an old 50's or so 3" St. George (obtained from a forum member) and a Goodwin Granger Champion 8642. Guys, if you get a chance to get your kids and grandkids to Dry Run (near Mt. Home, Arkansas), it's a great place for them to learn how to play large fish.....but you gotta do it before they are 16......strictly catch and release, barbless, and grandads hands cannot be on the rod.....(boy that is tough!).......I had a GREAT weekend!

That reel and the fish do have a fine, familiar appearance, Michael. Here's my little Perfect attached to the Driggs rod, with a Quashnet River brook
trout.
Quashnet's Paul H. Young Rod Database has photos and descriptions of 495 PHY Co. rods, plus catalogs, accessories,
etc. Thank you to all who continue to send me PHY rod photos and info.

Not sure if I would actually consider it a classic reel, but here is a Traun with some BWO's.

Quashnet, That certainly is an elegant brookie to complement that elegant rod and reel. Sleek, classic lines on both the brookie and the rod. Dang! I love a
well turned grip with double sliding bands!

Hello Teter,
I'm guessing from the wildness of that rainbow, and the rod and your shirt...that you must be a 'western guy'

Pvansch1, It's a 5/6, just under 3 1/8". Michael, I used to be a western guy (the Great Plains, actually.) Now I'm an eastern guy. That fish was caught yesterday in New Jersey.

50's 3 3/8ths perfect. No line guide. One of my favorite for 8 foot rods. Got to hear her sing a bit on Sunday. Caney Fork in TN.
I like agates a lot but the simple ones are nice too...... |
